New 2006 E350 owner

hi guys,
since wife's 06 C230 was badly rear ended, I found the replacement car. an 06 E350, white on charcoal. car has a little less than 35k miles, clean carfax, no respray, 1 owner, and nav. Service C was performed by the dealer, although not well, oil spilled on passenger side and smoked on the drive home. they'll be hearing from me on Friday. car drives perfectly and is very comfortable. will try to get pictures tomorrow.

the dealer is offering an extended powertrain warranty for $1400 that covers an additional 5 years from date of purchase or additional 100k miles. do you think this is a good thing to get? should i be looking at any other 3rd party warranties that may cover more items other than powertrain? any recommendations? tia.

hey!! $1400 is cheap for 100K warranty... if it covers everything like a new factory warranty.

Get it!

Goodluck ...

Are you aware that you still have 15,000 miles left on the factory warranty and what ever time is left on the 4 years from the in service date? Also you didn't say if the car was certified which adds another year and 50,000 miles to it. FYI a one year extended MB warranty is $1495.00 and the 2 year is $1925.00. So depending on the in service date it might be better to get the MB extended warranty that covers like 85% of the car instead of just the power train

Opps... Sorry, misread that one!

Oh... that $1400 only covers the Power Train??? Forget it!

The 2006 3.5L engine and 7-speed Tranny are so good that you need the extended warranty for the rest of the car... just be sure to use only Mobil 1 0-40w oil with the fleece filter and change the Tranny fluid/filter every 40,000 miles.

Above post is correct... if car is CPO, then it should have a factory extended warranty up to 100K miles that covers everything 100% !

Good Luck...

yes, the warranty is good until 1/10 or 15k miles. this is not a certified vehicle as it was bought from a non mercedes dealer. thanks for the info.

from my research on this forum, people have suggested fidelity or warranty direct. i'll have to look more into the warranty directly from mercedes. thx.

Nice E350. Hope that it will serve you well.

Pic of the crunched C class speaks highly of MB's safety. Great pic of the C!

thanks. yes, the C230 protected my expecting wife thus me looking at Mercedes again. the hit was pretty severe and the rear compartment held together well and both rear doors had no issues opening.
