Sport Exhaust sound changes between uses

I drive a E320 CDI (2006) and it has the AMG sport package option with a dual tail exhaust. According to the books, the exhaust sound is 'enhanced' compared to a model without this option.

Sometimes it does indeed sounds slightly as a sports car like low wrrooohh's ( how you want me to explain this...) but most of the time the sound of the exhaust is plain normal and as any other 6 cylinder diesel from MB...

It is really strange... shouldn't it have the same sound all of the time?

Anyone with a similar experience?

MIght be related to turbo not active when you are not accelerating with nice noise related to volume of exhaust coming out. Hopefully, someone else can give you a better explanation

Thank you for your answer.

When it does make that nice sound, it is audible even at low rpm (starting 1000rpm) as soon as the accelerator is slightly pressed down and also in neutral and park gear position. I think the turbo is not yet boosting the power at that moment.

It does not seem to be relate to engine temperature.

Anyone with a MB sports sports exhaust, can you confirm those exhaust do sound differently from 'normal' cars?

Turbochargers by nature act as a muffler, so it may sound less sporty once it spools up.
