Bolt Mystery - '00 E55 Exhaust/Transmission Bracket

Recently noticed an exhaust rattle emanating from the transmission area under my 2000 E55. It only happens at idle in Drive, i.e. at stop lights. While driving or in Park it stops. After getting the car on a lift it's clear there is a missing bracket and accompanying bolts (I assume..) that connect the two sides of the exhaust to the transmission.

Looking at the EPC diagram it appears there is a two-piece rubber and metal plate (1404920118, 1404920018) that are missing, however the corresponding bolt in the diagram is listed as *not valid for this model*

Anybody know what's going on here or perhaps can point towards a PN for the correct bolts?

I think you may have pulled up the exhaust assembly for a six cylinder.

here's what I found for a w210 E55 AMG North America.... 8 cylinder.

Interesting, thank you!

It gives two part numbers for #59..

1. N914007008029 (COMBINATION BOLT
FRONT EXHAUST PIPE TO TRANSMISSION M 8X40)
This one doesn't seem to bring up a part in any of the online catalogs

2. N304017008018 (SCREW
FRONT EXHAUST PIPE TO TRANSMISSION M 8X35)
From parts . com: Mount bracket bolt $1.77 ea.

When I search for Mercedes "M8x40" I get part number 1409904801/000000001153 indicated for a timing cover bolt. "M8x35" gets me 910105008014/900170008018 indicated for "EXHAUST COMPONENTS / Converter & pipe screw"

All things seem to be pointing to that 2nd part (8x35 bolt) I will try ordering a couple and see if that's correct.

Thanks again for the info.

Btw, if you require the rubber component that sits between the transmission and the bracket, you can use any type of thicker rubber piece you may have laying around or neoprene to prevent metal-to-metal chaffing.
I've cut up older rubber/ neoprene floor mats for use, to use as a go between in situations like this.

Ah nice, I already have the new bracket and rubber piece from Mercedes but that's a good tip, I'll keep that in mind if I ever have to deal with these again.

My local dealership had the bolt (304017008018) in stock @$2.50ea so I picked up a couple of those and will try them out when I can get the car in the air.

Is there any trick for assembly? Or is it essentially just fold the rubber part in half, sandwich it between the exhuast brackets+top plate, put the bolts through everything, and then tighten them down?

No trick, just like a sandwich and then install the bolts and tighten up her up.

Good to see you still have the E55!
Haven't seen you on here in a long time!

A buddy of mine has a friend in Everett that parted out a '99 and has a ton of bins and boxes full of stuff.

Yes, my E55 has been very well behaved for the most part and is thus keeping me busy with projects on my W124

Thanks for letting me know about the '99 being parted, I'll keep that in mind.

It'd be fun to have an E55 meet-up for all the PNW owners!
