Young man you are perfectly fine with any full synthetic 5w40 motor oil in that engine, like the others said there is almost no difference between 5w40 and 0w40 until the temperature drops to extremely low digits, where you live, I would not lose sleep over it.

Yeah thanks man, where I live, at 7 o'clock in the evening today it was 81 degrees so here it gets hot! I will just tell them to use 5w40, either mobil 1 or liqui moly...I am fine.

MB1 0w40

I put 100k miles on my 99 E320 between 2008 and 2011. I bought it with 68k, sold it with 168k. Anyway, I changed the oil every 5k miles with MB1 0w40. I never had an engine problem...ever. You'll be fine with either weight, but 0w40 has always been my preference.

Since I live in an environment which is not so cold, I believe the 5W40 will be a little better for me...though at the end I will leave it up to the shop and its technicians...

Id want to make a whole new thread for this minor issue, I believe my oil is fine right now...So should pull another 500-1000 miles on it? Does it look really clean right now?

Technically oils should be changed base on lab test.
For example my 40 years old Detroit manual says to test it after 50,000 miles, than retest every 10k and if the tests allow, change it at 100,000 miles.
But that was on dino oils
Since oil testing cost money, economy calls for change base on mileage and time. If you don't have records, you might want to change the oil just in case, but the lab tests results show that the oil I was changing on Mb after 13k still had lot of life in it.

Right, I think the guy I bought it from just said that the oil and everything is up to date on it, so assuming that he did everything in June of 2013, because the car was just sitting outside his house till the day before he sold it to me and that's when he probably took to his garage shop and changed the oil, trans fluid etc, it is well over a year so I guess I will change it this weekend or something...and I won't drive 10k or even 8k a year, possibly 6-7k max so I guess instead of going with the mileage, in I my case I will go by the time and change it once a year...
