URO SK-202B Shifter Knob

I know that URO's transmission mount should be avoided. There maybe other of their parts should be avoided also.

However, after reviewing some of the reviews, I purchased this shifter knob made by URO.

http://www.amazon.com/URO-Parts-SK-2...ds=uro+sk-202b

I removed the broken MB shifter knob from my E320 with the understanding of how to assemble and disassemble the shifter knob.

After receiving the URO knob, I attempted to remove the chrome part from the knob and not able to, as if it's glued on it.

Does anyone have experience with this part? Does the chrome part turn the same direction as the MB OEM knob?

had a look at the web site and one reviewer said this

"FYI - you can not put this on with the bottom plastic piece screwed onto the knob! First you have to remove the bottom screwed on plastic piece and put that over the shift lever by itself. Then, press this knob onto the shift lever and all the way down. They plastic fingers on the bottom open up and go around the lever and when you have it pushed all the way down, they close back up enough to slide the black plastic piece back up and screw it in place. This keeps the knob from being pulled up. If you try to put it on without first taking off the black plastic piece it will not have room for the little fingers to expand around the lever and you will probably either damage it or yourself "

hope that helps

First of all, thanks.

I have also read that review, but found it does not help.

It does not really describe how to remove the bottom chrome part from the knob.

Too bad that there is no instruction with the knob.

After further inspection of the knob, I found that the chrome part is smaller than the counter part on the MB OE knob. I suspect that the lock mechanism is different. There is a possibility that the thread (if any) may be the opposite of the MB OE knob.
