so i stripped the 7mm bolt that holds on the 13 pin female connector for the 722.6xx transmission, after dismantaling the conductor plate i noticed my black sensor was cracked? the one labeled in this picture

I would replace it if the speed sensor is cracked. Here is a good picture of a cracked Speed sensor. See post 35:

722.6 Transmission Refresh. DIY and questions. - PeachParts Mercedes ShopForum

Do not over torque anything. Buy your self a torque wrench

1/4 in. Drive Click Type Torque Wrench

Read the valve body section starting on page 15 for torque values of the 722.6 service manual

All the best,

Martin

Is it on Ford, or Honda that you have in your profile?
Earlier plates did have weaker sensors that have been improved in later models.
Get new plate, I bought one about 4 years ago for $160.

Seems as though the oem conductor plate already comes with new speed sensors

Got mine for 130 shipped if anybody else was in the market recently

I presume excessive heat over time degraded the- what seems to be plastic(?) covers that pertain to each speed sensor causing them to crack. Perhaps this new conductor plate and speed sensors will resolve some very minor shifting issues I've been dealing with since my transmission swap

Thanks Martin for the helpful post, that post 35 you mention was particularly interesting in regards to the fact this speed sensor being cracked caused some limp modes for some other benz's

Curious though if I will need a hard reset with STaR to have my tranny accept the new conductor plate/ speed sensors. I always do the "shift point learning" procedure whenever doing any modifications or repairs to the gearbox though

change conductor plate no need for any computor work it is plug and play. you are not changing control unit so adaptations will still be the same.
