Please help. Looking for part and it seems impossible to find

I have a 97 Mercedes E320 and I have been looking for a multiswitch/signal arm. All the ones I have seen or purchased don't fit. I have inquired a few parts places online and they seem to be stumped. I have included pics of the part I removed and the harness it plugs into. Sorry I am new here and don't know how this goes so please forgive me if I am doing this wrong. Please help. Welcome aboard, Victor.

Since you are in the states, you can subscribe for free to the EPC and look up parts based upon your VIN, thus assuring that you're getting the part that the factory says will fit. At least if you have a Windows-based PC.

EPC-net Online - Subscription Step 1 of 3

Once you have the part number you can search it with google and compare images, though those are not always accurate.

MB usually stamps part numbers on their parts, too, or applies a sticker, so you could get the original P/N that way.

Good luck.

The one I found at autohausaz may explain the issue. It looks like you took the switch apart; the harness actually plugs in below, as in this image. So maybe you do have the right one, you just have to follow the harness down to the smaller plug in the column.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forum.
What dealer can't find the part number?
We use 2 choices here
1. you can sign up to EPC, what needs CC for verificationa and than you have to find right Java for viewing
2. go to http://www.auto-parts.spb.ru/cat/cats/m.mycat?Form and enter your VIN to open the catalog. My firefox gives me automatically window with option to translate. The site takes some getting used to it, but works.
