speakers wiring

If someone can help me about the speakers
which is the positive?the striped wire or the solid colour wire?
because on posts there is the striped wire is negative but when I m checking the speakers with a battery to identify the positive and negative ,the speaker goes down when using the striped as negative.

Use a digital volt meter on the wires and it should tell you. Normally a - will come up before the voltage readout if polarity is reversed on the DVM leads.

Speaker wiring convention is as you say -ve is the striped wire but the main criteria is that all speakers on a system are wired the same way otherwise 1 speaker would be pulling in while the other is pushing out.
