W204 2008 C350 4matic internal bearing transfer case whistling
End of 2011 my mom wanted to change her car, so convinced her to buy a used (W204) 2008 C350 4matic with 52000km (little over 32K miles) from a MERCEDES BENZ dealer here in the Montreal, Quebec region.
After countless problems, and still ongoing BS happening to this car... Calling it a Lemon is an understatement.
So after 7 years and now at 98000km (61K miles) (only 6500km/year or 4k miles/year) and super smooth driving, we're talking about a 77 year old woman now...we hear a whistling sound under the car, the faster we go the more it sounds. Brought it into the dealer to have it diagnosed and to our surprise "INTERNAL BEARING IN THE TRANSFER CASE" would be the cause...how much you say ???
9000$ including parts and labor (not including the taxes) well that's more than the value of the car right now...has to be completely replaced and the dealer who diagnosed could not even perform the service.
The service technician said that it could be repaired by an experienced garage for about a 1000$... is this true ?? if so, does anyone know of a qualified garage to perform this type of repair in the Montreal, Quebec area ?
Once this is repair will be performed the car will be sold. I am sorry to say that me convincing my mom to purchase this car as one of her last was a total mistake. First Benz and Last Benz. MB will never get one cent from us...this car has proven that their product (65000$ CAN car brand new) is not a durable product...sure drives like a dream and while under warranty the Benz is fine but once you are out of the warranty, get ready to start dishing out the cash... I will put my money with the JAPS, had many cars with almost non-existent repairs and nothing comparable to this BENZ.
Thank you for your help.
