Air Filter Housing Internally Broken.

Doing service on the car I pulled off the air filter assembly and hear a rattle inside like a rock has gotten in. Open up the air filter housing and itís quite dirty. Still has rattling noise I inspect to find this broken piece past the carbon trap but inside the metal strainer! I donít want to damage the carbon filter trying to remove one to get the piece out.

Thoughts please on how to get it out? Thanks!

Well, I carefully pried at it with a plastic pry tool and was able to lift up enough that the piece fell out!

I donít see any signs it was dropped but Iím guessing rough service tech somehow cracked something inside!

Hopefully nothing harmful got into the engine!

No more rattling! Got another piece out and something not sure where exactly it came from (shiny black teardrop). All three pieces together:
