Battery issue

Hello all. I have a 2010 C300 4matic with about 120K km on it. This past week I traveled to Oregon . I drove to the ferry line up and waited , listening to some MP3 I had on DVD. Occasionally the radio would turn off. I'd turn the ignition back on and start it all up again. Then it would turn off again and as time went on it would turn off sooner. The ferry finally started to load and the car would not start!!! I needed a jump to get on the ferry and then at the other end to get off. I now understand why the radio was turning off but there was no dashboard alarm warning of a low battery. That just doesn't make any sense at all. This car has alarms for everything else but not a low battery. I made it to the nearest Autozone and got a new premium battery. The car still had the original Mercedes battery, not bad, 9 years.

Glad your car is running smoothly again, and 9 years is very respectable for a battery. Most likely because you’re in the cooler Pacific Northwest climate.

Here in Texas the heat shortens the life of batteries and I have had my local AutoZone tell me that they expect a battery to last about 5 years but depending on the quality of the battery some only last 3 years.
