All our W204's had both sides replaced.
The R class originally was down to have the driver side done only - later changed to both sides

Compulsory, government mandated recall

Yep no problems in US whatsoever

I got a recall letter for my 2014 C300.

According to the web link in the letter, replacement parts won’t be available till next spring.

My 2011 C300 is at the dealer now getting both air bags done per the recall. There apparently is some sort of additional MBZ repair credit to smooth things over that is specific to Takata air bag recall cars. My impression is that you bring the car in, they do the airbags, and "while you are there" they do their overall car check to see if you need any other repairs. You might ordinarily take your car to indies for repairs, but this credit makes the repair cost more competitive and you may just have the dealer do it. At least that is my take. I happen to need all new tires so the credit may bring the cost down below COSTCO levels. But then again I haven't heard back yet on what their "recommended repairs" might be.

I stopped going to the dealer for tires because I’d need to pay them to rotate and balance every time. Hopefully you can avoid that and take it to your local America’s Tire. They’ve been great! (Be careful there are lots of stores with “America” in the name:

www.tires.com to search for local address.

I just got off my butt to service the car and have got a little stuck on air filter replacement. Hopefully try to do the oil change, reset the service indicator, and then call the dealer to see if they still have the part(s) as we received several notifications a while ago now....

Is this there any way to see if Canadian cars are affected by this recall?
The VIN does not work on the US site mentioned above.

I did call and ask if any recalls were open, but they stated no information available?

Takata Airbag Recall.

I found this site but it just gives a phone number to call:

https://www.tc.gc.ca/en/services/roa...urer.html#toc1

Is that 1-800-387-0100 the number you called?

I just took the car in Thursday. The SA said they’d do a complimentary inspection and I agreed. Said some suspension boots were torn, and rear tires worn to wear bars. Said MB would good will most of the cost and my total for two tires and boots would be around $300. I said I wasn’t in a hurry to replace the tires because the car isn’t being used, then agreed to the boots replacement, which “most likely would be covered”. When I was called it was done I had a charge of $93.91. That’s okay for me, I was happy. Took the car home and put it back under it’s cover....

I called one of the MB dealerships in Vancouver, they asked for the VIN and then said "No information available" but would not confirm no open recalls.
I will call the 1-800 number on Tuesday.
