skating wipers

Good day y'all:

Any of you other W204 owners have wipers that are far from smooth? My car is new (2009) and is kept immaculate, including the windshield. I don't like the way the wipers skate on the windshield. Is this a common complaint? Easy fix by the dealer? Easy fix by me?

Thanks in advance for any input you can shed.

Mike

You didn't put anything on the windshield, like Rain-X, for example, did you? The blades seem to work well if an OE blade on an OE glass surface, perhaps with some slight angle tuning by the dealer if needed. Forums have reported chattering and skipping if anything different is done.

No, definitely nothing like that used. Everything is OEM, no mods, all stock.

Then, I would suggest a quick dealer visit. Apparently, the blade angle and adjustment are sensitive.

i have the exact same problem with my wipers. I took it to the dealer and all they did was put some lubricant on the wiper. I haven't tested it yet, will see what happen when it rains....

Hi, Had the same trouble with mine for months. After many adjusments they ended up replacing the windscreen (windShield US). Problem fixed. There must have been a faulty batch.

Clean the blades with rubbing alcohol I do this everytime I wash the car. BTW I use Rain-X on all the glass, head/fog lights and external mirrors with no problems.
