?????

the universal media interface includes navigation, but I thought this was about the media interface (UCI) that is just about connecting ipod/usb/3.5mm audio jack through the most loop to enable you to have decent ipod playlists etc controlable and visible in the comand head unit (NTG 2.5).

For anyone interested in this, I read on a mercedes website that the media interface now supported ipod video display on screen, so long as you don't have a tv tuner connected.

We are putting together a plug-and-play harness so that the media interface can be installed without having to run a bunch of wires and cut and solder. It will be very much like our VIM kit, probably about 1.5-2 hrs installation time. The only thing I have left to do is figure out how the programming will be done. Right now the only way to do it is with our equipment at our chicago facility; even the DAS/SDS machines that mercedes uses dont have the ability to do it. One possibility is to include it with something else like the VIM module and another would be to send out special programmers where you just plug a box into the OBD port and press a button and the box will do the programming for you.

Anyway, thats about it.. The interesting thing is that MB could have offered up the media interface for 2009 models; i dont know why they decided to keep with the old system considering how nice the new one is...
there is a media interface available as an option w. command only
