Headlight clip major problem

I just bought Monday a 2005 C55 and i noticed the left low beam headlight was out. i took it to Mercedes and after ordering part they realized a clip was missing that holds the headlight bulb in place. this this round little metal clip and Mercedes cant find the part anywhere and if they cant find the metal clip were looking at $1500 ( there price) to replace the whole headlight unit. WTF! this car is still under warranty and all work was done by Mercedes on this car and mercedes even worked on this headlight before but now the clip is missing to hold the light bulb. this is like a 50 cent piece too. if anyone knows were to find this clip and knows about the clip I'm talking about this would be a great help.

That's what I'm saying. I told them all work was done by Mercedes. this headlight had problems before and Mercedes fixed it. now they tell me i might have to buy whole new light? that's just crazy! the part came loose due to shotty Mercedes service. I'm going to go in there tomorrow in a rage if they cant find the part. they need to give me a whole new light if they cant fix the old one. what sucks about it is i just bought this car Monday and its in the shop. if they cant find a clip they need to give me a new light its that cut and dry, at least in my eyes. I cant believe Mercedes is giving me a hard time about it. although they are trying to look for the part for me. But if they don't find it i have to pay for a new one? that's just lame.

it's such a BS if they don't fix it. my friend has had his bi-xenon replaced free of charge from warranty repair.

btw, it sounds like you don't have the bi-xenon. if they really don't fix it under warranty just go out there on ebay and search for a new headlight. usually non-bi-xenon are cheap.

I have xenon lights. The piece is covered. However it turns out Mercedes wont cover a whole new headlight based on a small clip missing that was what i was told. and i would have to foot the bill for a new headlight assembly and that's about $1500 from Mercedes. As far as i see it the light is broken Mercedes need to cover a broken light regardless of how small the item is. if the clip is missing that = a broken light they need to fix the broken light.

find a number for Mercedes-Benz USA's service contact. call them in front of your service advisor and ask them "does the factory warranty cover the headlight for being faulty and causing parts missing without being tempered with? or being tempered with by authorized dealership service"

a LOT of time...and I mean a LOT is the dealership does not want to shell out and cover the labor charges that's why they are telling you they can't cover it ever since MBUSA cuts back on how much they pay dealerships for doing warranty repair.

can you please complete your BW PROFILE - vehicle Yr&Model and Location.

I undertand the car is only 3yrs old and still covered under 4yr/50K mile warranty, and you have the car for like 3 days?; is this the same dealer that you bought your C55?;
