Instrument cluster not working

Bought a 2003 C240. The Instrument cluster does not work. Replaced LED Display. Speedometer ,tach and gas gauge do not work as well. Scan came up with a P0600 Serial Com Link Error. Has anyone had this problem.

Welcome to the forum!

Could be a bad cluster, but also, did you check the fuse?

Benzbits: W203 Fuses

Check the wiring harness on the back of the cluster to make sure its plugged in and with no obvious problems. To remove the cluster, follow the fist three steps here:

W203 Cluster Repair

If all is well, you could try a used cluster, but you'll lose the odometer unless you have it erases in the used cluster and then uses SDS to re-code it to your car.

I see you replaced the display... Was the cluster working before you replaced the display?.. If so, is there a possibility when you pulled the cluster that the CAN bus line came apart from it's "pinch" connector.. I vaguely remember a member lose COM. when he had mistaking reversed the BLACK (4) lead ribbon cable when It had pulled apart from it's connector... Otherwise, follow Rodney's instructions..

PS.. If you don't have a MB scanner.. You need to get one.. Low end models are in the $100 to $200 price range.. Your new MB scanner will pay for itself, the first time you have to reset SRS.. OBDII can't preform this opperation..
