Resolved the Air Bag Issue
I had one remaining issue to resolve and since it involved safety, it was an important one. After I installed the passenger seat, the SRS warning light illuminated and an air bag warning (telling me to take the car to the work shop) displayed. I solve the problem by installing an occupant control sensor module from a 2006 C230. I found it on an auction site for $40. I think the modules from a 2005-2007 are similar.
Unfortunately, Mercedes changed the connector on the module and the seat pad and the W203 module was not "plug and play." Fortunately, I had a W204 connector left over from the wiring harnesses I used to adapt the seat motors. I soldered it to the W203 module. I had to guess which wires on the W204 connector to connect to the W203 module. My first guess turned out to be correct:
The W203 Control Module is the same size and shape as the W204, so I swapped it in and attached it with wire ties.
I ran the seat belt wire to the seat belt latch, cleaned up the wiring and installed the seat.
When I turned on the car, the SRS light went out after a few seconds and there was no warning message on the center display. I asked my wife to try the passenger seat and the "Air Bag Off" light went out when she sat down.
It looks like everything is working properly and I am pleased with the results.
