You are in the correct section, W203, but for your own problem you should create your own thread. No need to "wow" and sorry, as it is not a problem. If I came off as... snarky... that was not my intention. I knew you were new and was trying to help.

Did you check to see if your belt broke?

Hi Hercedes

iChris is right, if you have a problem make a noise about it so you get a quick response...there's no intrusions here. I only clicked on the thread expecting to see a photo of a new acquisition.

If you start a thread with HELP....My car died, you'll have the best of the forum by your side in a second.

I think it's safe to say Welcome to the forum, no question is too stupid and no problem too difficult.

You'll be well looked after...

So I was able to do some work to the car yesterday

4/29/2016 Still about 119k Miles

Installed floor mats

Replaced fuel filter
Replaced tension pulley, idler pulley, and belt.
Clay barred the entire vehicle. The paint really needed it.
Removed the sunshade to try to repair it but the gear is stripped so I just put it down and have it unplugged.
Replaced cabin filter.

While I had the belt off, I checked all the other pulleys. The water pump pulley seemed to have way to much play in it so I order a new water pump and I will replace it when it comes. Will also do a coolant flush when the day comes. Where can you find the torque specs for the job?

Wednesday 5/11/16

Replaced water pump
Replaced spark plugs
Replaced spark plug wires
Replaced valve cover gasket and breather cover gaskets
Replaced crankcase ventilation hoses
Changed coolant

Friday 5/13/16 about 119,300 miles

After letting the breather cover gasket dry, I started it back up. No oil leaks yet or water leaks!

Changed oil and filter
Changed differential fluid
Changed power steering fluid
Changed brake fluid

Saturday 5/14/16 washed the car and polished the paint. Polished the headlights.

Sunday 5/15/16 installed "new" center console arm rest. The latches on the old one were missing/broken.

Should I replace the CPS? I have read about those failing. Do you get any notice before they do so or are you just stranded one day?

Your car looks great! Nice job.

Personally, I wouldn't touch a CPS that hasn't shown any symptoms at all. It's possible it will just fail but I think most of us have seen some initial symptoms on a hot start first.

I'd be concerned about taking out a known good part and putting in one that may or may not have the same quality control on the original. I had to replace mine at about 100K and it's been fine since. It's possible yours has already been replaced.

Thank you!

What are the symptoms seen on a hot start?

What you said makes sense to me. As long as there is some warning before my car won't start, then I will leave it be!

How many miles do you have on your car now?

It's an electronic part, so failure modes can vary a bit. It's certainly possible it can just permanently fail with no warning.

But I believe most of us first experience a hot start issue. In my case it was on the hottest day of the year we drove to dinner and afterwards I had a crank-no-start and it set a code P0335. I was very lucky in that it started on the second attempt and I drove home and ordered a replacement CPS. I never did experience a full failure before replacing it.

Others have needed to wait until it fully cooled down or cooled it down by dousing it with water, and for some reason some don't get the code set at all.

I have about 135K on my car now. I used a Bosch CPS for the replacement, which I believe is OEM.

If your CPS fails when hot, try pouring cold water on it. MBZ Roadside Assist techs do this with good results.
