ABS/ESP/BAS error in hot weather

Hello,

During hot summer, when I park the car in direct sunlight, it gives ABS/ESP/BAS error.
When I start it in early morning, (relatively cool weather), it doesn't give such error. (I never experienced such error in winter)
What can be the possible reason?
Somehow, can it be related to expansion of the wire connection? (sounds silly :P )

First thing I would check is the ESP ground connection. There is an issue on certain models where the plastic covering on the terminal connection is too close to the connection. There's a DTB section that basically tells you to cut off the plastic closest to the terminal. If that's not the problem it couldn't hurt to clean up the ground connections anyways.

You need to fill out your profile with model, year, etc... Make a signature too!

Hello 2002c230,

Could you expand on your answer to CCAGLAYIK a little more? I also have a problem that is related to random ESP errors (and dashboard resets) after starting my C240 in hot weather.

Is the ESP module under the dash? around the steering column? engine compartment?

Thanks,
Jim

The ESP module in located in the engine bay. Not sure of all models, but the majority I have looked at the ESP module is in the same location. It's on the drive side of engine bay. Very noticeable as it has six metal tubes running into the top of the unit. The ground is located a little more over on the drive side next to the module. You will see multiple wires running to the chassis ground. If you need a photograph please let me know...

2002c230,
Perhaps a photo would help. I have seen a unit in the engine compartment, driver's side with 6 pipes running from it to the engine block. I always thought it was part of the fuel distribution system.

Related question: Is it necessary to reinitialize SAM's after reconnecting the battery?

Thanks,

No, it is not part of the fuel system. That is the ESP module. All power window features, and the ESP must be reinitialized after disconnection of the battery.
