2005 C320 -- H&R Sport Springs

Anyone have a review on these springs? I am thinking of putting a set on.

Thanks

Mine provide a pretty shitty ride.

I found the ride a little more "taught" on my 02. Handling a bit sharper. Installed them myself and used #3 mb perches in the rear to keep the body completely level - very important in my book. Did a 4 wheel aligment afterwards which is absolutely necessary for camber adjustment.

All in all, I liked the improvement in looks a lot, the handling improvement was negligible and I did not find any real negatives in the ride quality. Time and money well spent to give it a bit more of a "sporty" edge.

Fronts take some major time and expertise - rears are a piece of cake and fast. I tried just the fronts at first but the rear seemed to wallow a lot, I would recommend using all four.

Buy 'em used for less than half price - springs really never wear out these days...

Thanks for the feedback, especially the perch tip -- I'm leaning towards this setup.

The shims, or perches as RonKMiller like to call them, have no effect on the RIDE QUALITY. The HR springs are so bouncy, that I cannont drive on poured concrete roads without the car bucking between slabs. I might as well have slammed it to the ground considering the ride quality.

with a sport packaged car you won't feel that much different by going with the H&R springs other than it'll be a little lower.

with the non-sport you will feel that the springs improved the handling, but it will give a harsher ride and you will eventually want to change out the shocks as well to a shorter sport shock.

Springs are installed with the stock 16 inch rims. The ride feels very close to stock. Steering is a little sharper and the drop is pretty close to what H&R specified. All in all I like it better than either of the two previous vehicles with aftermarket spring applications: a 98 Honda Accord Coupe (Eibach Pro Kit) , a 2002 Audi A4 (Intrax). So far they meet my expectations.

You wanted pics maupina, here you are.

Before, with 18's, but the same outside diameter.

It snowed, so the stock 17's are on. This is with the HR springs installed.

Post some of yours.

I can't believe you don't hate the ride. My car rides like a frozen dead cow.

Wutang you have a very sharp Benz. I really like that color. Your springs have a very different profile than mine. I have the H&R Sport Springs and my car is much lower. I just put a set of OEM staggered 5-spoke funnel rims on today. I drove the car 1500 miles this weekend and it took about 500 miles before the springs settled. Now the car drives like a dream (in my opinion). It's not bouncy at all and more or less handles vey much like my 2000 328Ci with sport package. I took it out to an empty parking lot tonight and scuffed up the tires a bit. It tracks extremely well; very stable in hard sharp turns As soon as I get some time in the sun in the next few days I'll crank up my Nikon and shoot a 360 and post them. I think you will be surprised at the difference in height. Your car height looks like mine did with the Luxury package springs before the H&R's. Did you buy your springs from a dealer or second hand?

I was wondering if you saved the box, I would like to compare part numbers on the springs we installed. I am wondering what the hell is different; I want to be happy with the ride like you are.

where in iowa are you?
