2009 ML320 Bluetec Check engine light

Check engine light has been on for more than a year with ZERO driveability issues. Winter, Summer, hot cold wet dry - no problems. Mechanic says code relates to an intake manifold damper or sensor. The vehicle now has 165,000 miles and I'm at a crossroads. Put $$$$ in it and keep driving or wave it goodbye and have a car payment again. Current issues include the check engine light phantom, a noise that sounds like the AC compressor getting ready to ghost, new tires and a new battery (current is 6yrs old) would be advisable. She consumes oil which I assume is a leak - between oil changes, which I can live with. If I take it in for a trade they're going to weigh it to come up with a value. It drives good and I like it. What to do? The check engine light is the biggest question mark in my mind. Anyone have any thoughts or advice? Thanks in advance!

I don't have the code #

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to come up with the code number. It was described to me as "intake manifold left side intake flap position sensor or motor"
