Many thanks to the always cheerful 43sqrd, and all the others that helped my fix my 2006 ML500. After a mere 110K We got the Transmission error code that requires a minimum $1,000+ fix. This is after replacing every major suspension component, half a dozen power steering o-rings, door lock springs, weird light-bulb sockets, fixing brake pad wear wiring harnesses, etc...etc..etc. We finally had enough.
We bought a Lexus. Not quite as luxurious, as Mercedes, but it's about 10 times as reliable. And a lot cheaper to fix. Good luck to you all and thank you!
I don't want to argue my friend. But for you to argue that the Lexus is boring, is to indicate that the ML is...exciting? It's a sluggish SUV, there is NOTHING exciting about a sluggish SUV. But I do appreciate you proving all my points.
And yes, I know, the Lexus will require repairs eventually. But it's less likely it will leave me stranded like the mercedes did a few times. Or drop the whole suspension so you LITERALLY feel every bump. Or require thousands in transmission work just after you click over 100K.
Anyway, gotta go, gotta pick up some white paint for the fence on the way to pick up Jr. from Kindergarten, and I can't be late, wifey needs the Lexus so she can get to bingo tonight. It's Double sheet Wednesday tonight! wooo Hoo!
The ML350 is a rather "sedate" car. It's a good car, mind you, but not what I would call exciting. An exciting SUV, to me, would be the Tesla Model X, or the Jaguar FPace or a new AMG GLE63, or one of the Porsche models.
The ML W164 is solid and it has some nice features, but "exciting", no. If I want some excitement, I get into my SL550, not my ML350.

With all due Respect, Dudeman, the Tesla X was a good Idea on the Drawing Board, but is a total piece of Crap. Look it up yourself if you want to.
Plagued with problems, right off the production line.
And, I never mentioned that the ML is "exciting" as you call it. I happen to have two of them, made them look and Ride the best I could.
It is a good Luxury SUV, even at today's standards.
Looking for an exciting Vehicle, I would look at the new Mercedes EQC. Now that is a fine Vehicle. All Electric SUV.
Since I don't pay for Electricity, I hope for a Pricetag under 70K and in a couple of Years, I might drive one.
Meanwhile, I'll drive my BlueTec into the Ground. I did have 278000 miles on my 1988 W124 Wagon before I sold it. And planning to put at least 180K on the Blue.
