Part Identification

So, I found this part earlier not attached to anything and with no part numbers? Would anyone know what it is?

Looks suspiciously like a vacuum hose or window washer water hose. Where did you find it?
Engine bay or cabin.

Where would I replace it? I found it on top of the engine after I got it a while ago and completely forgot about it.

I don't think it's a washer hose, all of mine work.
I found it in the engine bay months ago and completely forgot about it.
As Witek_M said, it could be a battery vent hose. If it is a vent hose is it something important?

Vent hose is needed in vehicles where battery is mounted in confined place. Under seat, under trunk floor or such. In case alternator goes berserk boiling battery will puke out through vent hose.

No need for it in ML.
Then why would I have found it under my hood??

That doesnt look like a battery vent tube to me.
In past, I've taken the battery out of the tray, cleaned up the tray and surrounding area (of all the collection of leaves, crud, etc) - I don't recognize this size, shape of a hose for battery venting or the battery tray itself.

Here's the oem battery vent hose (translucent grey) on a replacement battery on the 02 ML.

Multiple Google image searches turned up nothing even remotely similar. I honestly have no idea where to even attempt to look.
