Hitch ball mount drop - how do I get to 18.5"

Hi,

About to install the OEM hitch on my ML320.
Planning to tow a car on a uhaul "Auto Transport" trailer and they said for level height the top of the ball should be at 18.5".

Any idea how much of a drop / lift I need in order to get there?

Thanks!!
Patrick

If its the removable hitch it can be turned to make different heights. You do need to remove the ball though. A couple of inch either way will be ok. Your better to have the nose of the trailer pointing down a little than up.

Thanks!
So would it be a good idea to get a two inch drop and see which way it fits better? (Two inch seems most popular based on number of Amazon reviews )
Or a four inch?!

Generally a standard tow ball height is 450-500 mm in our language so a 2 drop will put it to low. It will depend completely on the ride height of your car. You really need to install it and see where it sits. If your ride height is standard I would stick with a standard hitch.

Got it. Totally didn't occur to me that simply straight might be the way to go.
I'm new to those hitches, classes, drops etc. - used to the German / European ones that don't really have any of that. But then.. you also don't see too many lifted trucks out there that would require them
