We do in fact have 3 remote fobs working on the 99 ML430. Lost one, replaced it and coded it it in myself before the MB anti theft rules.
Then found the missing remote and it works. So we have 3 total plus the valet key.
@rudeney ...... The circuit board is the same from key to key. It is the RFID pellet that has to change, be replaced or erased to a virgin state.
Then they refurbished/used remote can be programmed in provided there is an open track.

Yes it is done with the SDS.
Mike you can have 8 remotes at the same time........
Mercedes is feeding us bullshit limitations........
One can do whatever he wants. For example the 8 tracks that they check & tell you that you have used all 8. Here all 8 tracks can be erased so you can have brand new 8 tracks........

+1
The first time I accessed it with the MB SDS I was amazed at how simple it was to get the key programmed. I did not clear any tracks, but the whole process can be done in matter of minutes once the computer is hooked up.

MB has pulled off a real rouse for owners that do not know what the real facts are.

Noodles.... can you dumb down the steps needed to do this....

I'll start you off :

1. Get Mickey Mouse / Valet key from Mercedes
2. Obtain Switchblade Remote (used or new)....
3. Transfer RFID chip from Mickey to new Switchblade Remote..

then ?

If transferring the RFID pellet from the Valet key to a used remote then to make sure it works
the truck will need a session hooked up to the MD Star computer to access the key programming
part of the software and verify it is programmed in.

Does anyone know exactly where the RFID chip is located in the Mickey Mouse key?

Also the location in the remote case. I've seen it a long time ago but I forgot where it is located.

Here's where it is in the case, at least. Found this picture last year when doing mine. Looks like a Jim picture. Small little bastard. Easy to fall out when doing the swap if you don't know you need it! Can't imagine this exact transponder is in the valet key. Must be much smaller.

Thanks, The picture jogged my memory and now I remember seeing it in that location.
I have no idea where it is in the Valet Key. Knowing it location is more important than the remote location since it will need to be cut out. I don't want to attempt to X-Ray the key since that will most likely damage the chip and I no longer have direct access to the lab X-Ray machine.

I looked everywhere (even german sites) for pictures of the mickey mouse key (valet key) with transmitter location. They just use another term other than valet... because i couldn't find it.

I have my money that its in one of the mickey mouse ears

All I came up with was the following (which isn't really helpful) :

The Official Mercedes name for the Valet / Mickey Mouse key is a Secondary key.

Also you can order just the Key Blade 210-766-02-06 to carry in your wallet or hide somewhere outside the ML in case you get locked out. It will open the door lock but will not start and run the ignition.

I have a Key Blade hidden outside my ML and a Secondary Key hidden inside.
