Tcu/shift selector wiring

Looking for wiring diagrams for the tcu and shift selector on the 98 Ml320 with gate shifter and a 01 with tiptronic shifter. I'm swapping the tcu and shifter in it and connectors are different..

It could work if you are able to hack several other modules' coding. The old PRND-4321 shifter interfaces with the EGS51 transmission control unit directly regrading the gear identification. For the touchmatic version, the selected gear (PRND-+) info is sent via the can bus,, and also to other modules like the instrument cluster. The main question is, does the engine computer / traction control, etc, care if the TCU is EGS51 or EGS52 ?

Here is the diagram for the touchmatic.

There are also mechanical issues like Parking shift lock, reverse/ park lock, reverse signaling etc etc..

Oh I just realized I left a important part out. Sorry I have Egs52 as well to swap in with the shifter.. The whole point is because the V8 transmission 722.666 out of the ml500 need the Egs52 from the 500 to not go into limp. So I just need the diagram for gate shifter to the tcu and tip diagram so I can wire it correctly for the Egs52.. The rest should be ok. If it needs coded I can do that as well. Thanks for the response. I totally understand this is all trial and error but I'm sure I can make something work

Before I go splicing wires and changing the tcu.. Do you guys think the different gearing in the 722.666 is the problem with the 147 code I'm getting? It's going into limp most of the time. The reason I think this is the problem is because apparently the Ml320 and 500 have 3.70 final gear and 430 and 55 have 3.42 and I thought the ratio in the transmission was different with different models of the 722.6..

Thank you for that as well.. The first 2 possible causes listed there make me believe it's a gearing issue. I know the transmission is good and it's not slipping for sure. And it's the second 722.666 I got. I'm going to go ahead and get this wired up today. Thanks for the advice!
