Dustin, both 4 & 5 v will do with the bose amp. But why do you want to swap the headunit? Is it because of the whizzing sound? Any other reason? The reason I am asking is if its the whizing sound you can fix that. You will need to bring a direct + from the battery to the headunit & preferably the amp as well using quality power cable. Also a separate proper - ground for both the headunit & the amp.

Thanks for the info. The interference noise I'm getting is part of the reason I want to try a different head unit. I'm also not really happy with the way the touchscreen looks in the car, and how it lights up the car at night. I guess that's just a matter of preference really. I'm considering a JVC KW-R900BT. It's pretty much got all of the same features as the DDX470, minus the touchscreen. I'll still be able to use the mic, and the USB and audio in jack down in the passenger footwell, and I think the look of it in the car will suit my taste better.

resurrecting this post to see some other double din installs.

... I am (now) looking for a clean OEM-looking / minimalist double din receiver....

(I also like to have tactile buttons...but not a complete deal breaker)

You've got 3 posts on the same thing -- you should keep it contained to one. There's plenty of write ups on the site. Was trying to help, but you keep posting in other threads

At his request I have deleted one of the threads he started. He did realize it was getting confusing and had me delete the thread.

I have a 2000 ML55 with Bose, does anyone know what aftermarket harness I need? Everyone that I'm finding online has been coming up with no amp option only.

Not sure why Crutchfield, Pioneer and other vendors keep bringing up the ML55 as a single din as well. They've had 19 yrs to get it right and still have the wrong information for the ML55.

It's the VW harness. It's mentioned a million times throughout the forums. Ignore Crutchfield and other audio sites.

that's the harness that comes up for the non-amp use. Are there 2 different ones?
