Depress and release your parking brake several times and see if that corrects it. The sensor/switch that controls the parking brake may have stuck.

Hi,
The switch clips into the stationary part under the dash and is actuated by the parking brake. It's easy to snap back in place once you see how it works. You may want to check under there with a flashlight.

43sq, and all:

I am dusting this 12 year old thread as it pretty much spells out what I think my issue is.

I have the 'Mysterious Intemittent Beeping and Illuminated Brake warning light on dash' It comes on randomly while driving. Not when pressing brake pedal.

I have already replaced the Brake Fluid Level Sensor, thinking it was bad. Probably it was ok.

The brake pads, rotors & sensors were all new in the last 12 months.

I'm thinking it could ONLY be the Emergency Brake Sensor, either faulty or popped out of place.

Is this E Brake Sensor behind left drivers kick panel or up under dash ?

According to the chart I will attach if Brake Fluid level is full & Sensor Cap new, it could ONLY be the E Brake Sensor, nothing else, correct ?

Thanks for the help !

I haven't had access to computer to pull codes as of yet.

Trying to solve it analog.

It could be wheel pad sensor though all are less than a year old.

And it doesnt match that blurb from MB Star, that says Brake sensor issue only manifests upon pedal press occuring, this can start without pressing brake & continues until key is cycled.

Maybe sensor Intermittently shorting out ?

Sorry to bother you Witek.

Is something troubling you these days ?

You were harsh to a newbie just earlier this week.

I've got thick skin, others maybe not so much.

Cheers - David

Exclamation Ok, got some codes....

Ok was able to use Carsoft for MB to check for codes:

From ESP module:

C 1102 LR Wheel speed sensor

C 1103 RR Wheel speed sensor

C 1200 Stop Lamp Switch

B 1210 ??

Nothing else would seem to possibly relate to the issue at hand.

So I cleared the codes and will see when / how / if this recurrs.

For now I'm not using E Brake and see if that has any effect.

First drive after clearing them, perfect nothing no beeping.

Will update this & hope you're having a great summer and NO ISSUES !

Cheers - David in East Texas

Ok an update:

I pulled the 4 abs wheel sensors. 3 of them had pretty nasty crud built up in the hole & at sensor tip, enough to block signal, perhaps ?

Also the bolt & hole surround makes ground contact - so I thoroughly cleaned the hole, sensor tip & contacts.

A funny thing happened yesterday while driving. It beeped at me (yet again) I pulled over & cycled the engine, went on.

(Same thing has happened most days sometimes 2-3 times a day.)

Later while driving it beeped once, flickered the light and stopped itself.

Did this again, a beep, light flicker & off.

Today, no beeping nothing at all.

Can anyone say if it sounds like the ECU just did a module reset of this issue ?

I'd sure be blessed if this resolves it !

Thx - David
