98 S500, 160k. PS Pump replaced 30k mi ago with a refurb.
1,500 miles ago, I had the rubber hoses on the tandem pump replaced due to a slow leak (the high pressure steering hose had already been replaced). Now I have the oddest issue.
I was driving one day and noticed heard the pump whine. Stopped and checked and fluid was everywhere - my assumption was that a hose wasnt fully clamped down. Wrong! The fluid was coming from an overflowing SLS reservoir - odd. The PS reservoir was empty, so I refilled it, the noise stopped but came back within 5 minutes and the SLS reservoir was overflowing again - and this is the issue.
Some how, the fluid on the PS side is going to to the SLS reservoir. Thoughts? Internal pump sealing issue or something else?
