Exclamation Seatbelt Retractor Arm Issue

I have the following issue on my 1997 CL500. The driverside retractor seat belt arm gets occasionally stuck in the rear panel, and is unable to bring me the seat belt. It eventually stops working, and i have to disconnect the battery in order to reset it. What could cause the arm to get stuck in the panel ? I always have to manually pull it out and put it in front of the triangular plastic piece which is attached to the rear panel.

NewYorkS600, you might want to look at Jim Forgione's page on this. https://www.k6jrf.com/MB_sbe.html
It might aim you in the right direction. It is a great site with lots of info for us coupe owners.

In my car the problem is that it gets stuck around the panel cover....as if it's pulled in too much. The gears are not stripped.

Does anyone know the part number of the triangle which is attached to the rear panel, where the seat belt arm moves in and out from ? It seems that mine is broken, and that's why the arm get stuck inside of it. It's the driver side.

The larger triangle trim piece is a part of the rear panel .. don't think it's sold separately.

The triangle pieces that connect to the extender are available. Problem is the seat belt 'tongue' is larger than the extender triangle and does not pass through when trying to replace it.

That part is sold separately without the rear panel. I have found the passenger side part number which is A 140 692 02 59, but i need the driver side.

NewYork, Take a look at https://www.mbpartsworld.com/ It used to be Mercedes of Atlanta. However, I couldn't input "coupe" into "trim" when I was looking for you. I sent them an email but this normally is a great site for referencing part numbers. And their prices are decent also.
