Going scatty with this one. Most things on my C140 work "a bit" - the seats aren't sliding forward electrically when the backs are tilted (I'm told they should do this), the butlers have a mind of their own, and the soft close doors don't but the soft-close boot does.
However, the one that is actually a problem is the lights.
All of this is with the engine running. Ignition off it's all fine.
If the lights are on, the car will randomly flash the right turn signal for no apparent reason.
If the hazards are on with the car running, the left signals flash double rate as if the bulb has failed.
I've tried opening the A140 820 24 26 N10 relay box to check for dry joints, it is a complete pig of a thing and I gave up with the top cut off but unable to free the clips to get the PCB out, making it unappealing as an exchange unit to be refurbished. I've never encountered such a horrible thing in a Mercedes before!
I bought a different relay - N10/2 - hoping that the relay marked for C140, W140 and R129 with towing package would simply have extra connections. No, the actual loom must be different too. Crazy.
Before I splash out £250 (I cannot find any cheaper) on a secondhand, unwarranted A1408202426 relay, has anyone encountered this before and found it's down to fusebox connections, earths, loom degradation - anything that will make spending the money just infuriating and involve hours of stripping the car back to solve?
Also does anyone with a C140, W140 or R129 with towing package want an N10/2 relay (european) for £100 posted?
