Fuse Box & Relays Explained

For Owners that are looking for Relays underneath the Fuse Box & what those Relays actually are for & for which component .
How many are out there that don't know these Relays underneath the Fusebox are even there ? ,all our Newbies that's for sure .
Take Note it changes after 08/1995 including wiper relay.
I added the Fuse chart to make this more complete but keep in mind that the chart could slightly change between models , i'm not to sure about it ,checking booth my ex S500 & current S600 ,they are identical .

Hi i have a 92 600sel with abs / asr lights on,do you remove the fuse box in order to get to relays underneath? Ive had car into mercedes repairer to sort issue but asr module not blinking as it uses blink code. Surely they would have checked relays?? Also starting the car with brake pedal depressed dash lights come on straight away. And have cleaned speed sensors on rear wheels.

Sorry if have intruded on someones post but not sure how to start new one

Don't be sorry ,you need Help & that's why we here for ,Moderator's can fix/remove/shift post's if there is a problem with any post's .

You don't need to remove the Fuse box ,Look around the front Edge facing engine ,you see 2 screws on the inner edge of the front ,at the back you see that that section is lift-able .
Don't remove the 4 screws that are on all 4 edges ,no need for only the two at the front that separate the box .

BTW: Don't forget that on your 600 ,there are two extra fuses on the passenger side Coffin Module Box in front of the Firewall ( 4 screws around edges to get to it) ,the box where the scanning port is (round Plug) ,if one is burned out ,it will trigger ASR permanently until replaced .

Cleaning rear wheel abs sensor doesn't make a difference ,you need to clean the front once & sounds like replacing your Brake Switch is a good idea . Booth these repairs you do yourself as they are easy to do ,Brake Switch is on top of brake pedal ,cost around $30-35 ,a faulty one will trigger ASR/ABS .
If you go Mercedes dealer they probably charge you $2-250 or more for these easy repairs ,my grand daughter (4) could do it,lol.

Ok, i will have a look tomorrow. Have had this issue for a while now and would like to fix it myself as cant afford to keep putting her in the shop.

Cars not in limp mode but power is definitely reduced, no speedo and heavy power steering, as they are all controlled by same module. Do the 600's have front speed sensors? I read somewhere that they dont and elsewhere that they do.

Just saw rest of your post, will clean front speed sensors this weekend, have checked the fuses in coffinbox and they are all fine.

Will try a new brake switch too.

On my RHD 600 (same as yours) the main ABS speed sensor is the Left front wheel one ,on yours if it is LHD 140 it would be the Right side one ,Personally i clean booth for piece of mind.
