Given the pace you work at, I ought to hire you to come to the US to help me with my S600 coupe!

So you're going to hire me for 25 months? haha

Seriously tho I don't work on other peoples cars, I make money in other ways and this is fun as a hobby for me.

I probably over think and over research work on the car before I do it. It seems though recently every small job takes an age to do. Or I end up tracing and apparent problem only to find out it's caused by something else I'm doing that should be totally unrelated. E.g.: my seats stopped being adjustable ignition off, only to find out it was caused by me having the seat belt buzzer out of the car temporarily. Cost me almost a day of useless troubleshooting.

more like 27 months actually hehe.

Spending a day barking up the wrong tree, or more, that's just how it is. Why do you think I have 4 of the things? Once fluent with W140 things are much easier & quicker 2nd/3rd/4th time around. It's the uncommon problems that can be real curve balls, un-chartered waters.

I got lucky re. vibrations but damn this car had lots of things that needed doing.

Another point I got lucky on: the self close all works.

Re. vibrations that CL600 I bought recently needs flexjoints and the S600 has ever so slight play in the rear wheel bearings that I really should fix before getting it back on the road.

I've been DDing this beast for months now, it really doesn't use that much less fuel that the S600, so I ordered in two new O2 sensors to install.

The S600 received like new replacement window weather strips so this S500 got the S600 hand-me-downs. The originals had shrunk over an inch, that's how much hot Queensland sun this car has seen.

The transmission still shifts hard, something is up, maybe the valvebody. I have the original valvebody and TCU from my old S420, I installed new rebuild sleeves into the VB and will swap it all over on the weekend and do the new O2 sensors while I'm under there.

Even though this isn't in as good condition vs the S420 I had, I really enjoy the extra power and the black interior makes the car feel bigger and subjectively less dated inside. Glad I made the swap.

I had the original S500 TCU in the S600, reverted back and things improved. 2-1 coasting shift is a bit clunky, 1-2/2-1 heavy to full throttle shifts are improved but still pretty bad. "Normal" driving all good though.

Next on the list is completely rebuild the transmission with W220 era 722.6 internals swapped in or I might just swap a whole late model 722.6 box in and forget about the park brake interlock.

Re. new O2 sensors, not sure about any difference in fuel consumption yet.

+1 on the O2's, just got mine in too, they appeared to be a bit slow but you don't know how much that translates into improved fuel economy. I'm sure you will find out much quicker than me. How many km's has it done?

Yeah my 2>1 shift has always been pretty noticeable. Fluid change helped smoothed my WOT shifts but that's it.
