Hey NYC 140, I know a good Mercedes mechanic, I don't own a W140 but I know he works on all Mercedes. He is in Staten Island, I think his shop is called Autex, it's on Travis Avenue off West Shore Expressway right before Victory Blvd, across from little league baseball fields. There are two owners an Albanian & an Italian guy. They're not cheap, but they won't screw you either, and they always use original parts. I know sometimes mechanics make money on parts too, but these guys don't care if you bring the parts to them or if they order them from dealer directly, they just won't make repairs with aftermarket parts.
I normally do my own work on my cars, but I have gone to them over the years for blower motor replacement, harness etc.
I used to go to them to look at cars, but now I think I know enough to buy them on my own. If I remember correctly he wants you to make an appointment for him to spend time looking at your car though.
