Your car is a twin to mine, smoked silver over muscle grey outside. I can't tell what interior you have although I would speculate that it's parchment / champignon but I could be wrong, it looks darker.

I'm not real familiar with the cruise system on these but I'll have a look at Alldata to see what can be done. Off hand my first suggestion would be to look at the brake disengage switch under the dash, but that's just an off-hand guess.

As a side note, I see your car is badged "Turbo" on the right rear decklid, did you put that on? From what I've found none of the US W140 diesel cars were labeled as such, the 94/95 cars were badged "Turbodiesel" on the right side.

those are the wheels you have on it ? because when you put aftermarket wheels it could stop working. mine sometimes doesn't work because of the brake light switch and the wheels don't help it either. but try this sometime when you do accelerate instead of resume it will work(thats what mine does anyways)

Is your ABS light on the instrument cluster on?

I have the same problem, with an almost identical vehicle. (1993 / 94 S320)..

My front right speed sensor need to be replaced, this I was told is what is causing my Cruize control to not be working..

Once I have replaced it next week, I will let you know if it fixed the prob..

my in interior is black. i just purchased the car 10 days ago, and i havent had a lot of time to research it. however the turbo badge looks original, but it is a canadian car. maybe they were different.

Those are not aftermarket wheels, they're standard W140 alloys, so they wouldn't likely be the cause of any cruise difficulty. I haven't been to alldata yet but I'll get there shortly. I'm not sure it will provide a diagnosis but we'll see.

Interesting that you have a black interior, something I really wanted, but since you don't have a choice with a used car I had to accept what I got. Black would have been a better contrast with the exterior color though, changing the whole interior is a big chore.

Have you confirmed yet that the engine either doesn't consume oil or it has a replacement engine?

Nice car...I'm envious of your black interior. More pictures (interior included) would be great when you have time.

I checked alldatadiy and there is a test procedure but you'll need a reader to pull the codes from the system. There are inexpensive ones out there that you can buy or I've also seen instructions for making one.

At any rate, there is a TSB for all W140's that concerns tire size, MB says all tires must be identical maker / size otherwise cruise will disengage at road speed but may operate at lower speed levels.

Send me an email and I'll forward you the test procedure.
