Transmisison Alignment holes on flex plate Gen 1

Hi All

I need to ask the forum if the alignment of holes on the transmission flex plate is also important on a gen 1, 500 sec since there is no TPS ?.

On a gen 1 transmission installation, I cannot recall even looking at the alignment. when all was installed , the car was good in 1st gear but cuts out as it is about to change to second gear.

could the alignment have this affect on my problem?

comments please

I dought it. I think the 500 only came with a crank position sensor at the crank pulley.
