Center vents non OP - but check this out

so the other week, i noted that the center vents went out....i had my pods sorted 14 yrs ago so figure its the usual culprit again this time.

i usually always drive with the EC button depressed on LOW fan just to get some air in the car, and i had noticed that i wasnt getting any except the sides and near winshield

SO today, randomly the center vents starting working again...but check this out

as i am accelerating they work until i hit 1500 rpm, then they die.....if i coast, and rpm drops, they come back on....aint that a bitch

and not check this...sometimes randomly today if im over 2000 lets say im on freeway, at steady speed, the centers come back on...crazy

has anyone ever had this issue.

Yes. When rpms are low there is more vacuum in the intake manifold. You have a vacuum leak probably one or both of the pods. On mine it was only the one on the left of the two pods that work in tandem behind the glove box or passenger air bag. Mine also had a leak at the defroster pod too. Both those can be done through the same access point. Replacing just the diaphragms in the fresh air pod fixed the problem but I did fresh and defroster pods at the same time labour time 1.5hrs at the most.

How easy is it to access.the middle vent and floor vent pods? Mine only blows out the defrost and an eek out the middle. Nothing out the floor.

Pull a vacuum on all seven ports of the gang of seven manifold behind the passenger side center consuls vertical carpet panel. That way you can identify exactly which vacuum actuators are faulty.

I ordered the diaphragms from Performance Analysis. But first you you need to know how many you need. But if you want to orderer for all your pods then you will buy nine of them. I just ordered what I needed. The delivery charge is about nine bucks. The package comes with instructions. Just use a small blade screw driver and be gentle.

Good luck.
