Sorry, Another OT: Now I Know

Now I understand. I know you guys processed this a long time ago but I take longer. I finally can articulate why I like the looks of our cars so much better than new designs. My car is pictured next to a small modern SUV. I like beauty to be "powerful" but "understated." Same with women. You can have the lady with "painted on" clothing, makeup a mile thick and pumps a mile high, and that can look good, sort of. You can also have a beautiful woman whose poise and skillful touches in clothing, makeup and accessories results in timeless beauty. The latter is how I feel about our cars: timeless beauty. My car might be criticized for its silly headlight wipers and I agree, but look at the SUV. Not ugly, but trying way too hard for a result that does not come close to being worth it. Its design has so much frippery in contours and creases and angles and shapes that feel like I just finished eating a large meal that just didn't taste very good. I can look at my car in the picture and it will "smile" back; I look at the SUV next to it and it seems to be yelling at me to pay it attention or trying to give me advice I didnít ask for. Or maybe it's screaming at me because I am part of the vilified "white men's patriarchy." Meanwhile, my car just smiles at me.

Okay, I'm done. Just needed a captive audience on that one. Have a good day!

John

The w126 is the best sedan design Mercedes ever made . The coupe equally as stunning and timeless (although Mercedes has made many beautiful coupes through the years , but the sedans were all stodgy till the w126)

Agreed, the timeless beauty of the 126 lineup in both the sedans as well as the coupes (I've owned both) is something not seen lately. At rest they look as if they are charging down the highway, something else that today's cars just can't do. JSebastian, that vehicle sitting next to your blue beauty is just too "busy" with all the lines running every which way, some cars I even wonder if the design teams were having a wild party when they drew out some of the designs or maybe the mouse got away from them and just left it with the notches where the lights go.

I love the way mine looks and when I pass some of the newest "muscle cars" I wonder what those drivers/owners are thinking when they see my coupe. Do they think of it as being a hot rod or a cruiser, it could be both

Can't resist. Once in a parking lot in DC and Old Geezer (OG is that the same as OT?) came up to the car, walked around it slowly, then came over and said "Now that's the way a Mercedes should look." Come to think of it, I am probably now about the same age as the OG.

What I really like is that the windshield in not slanted so far that it grazes my forehead. Also appreciate that the car does not look like all the jelly beans on the road with squished rear ends. cheers all.

I wish it were. Doesn't look it from the picture, but one of the most well-behaved dogs I've ever come across. It sat like a friendly statue in front of the Starbucks for a long time waiting for its owner, who finally came out when I took the picture.

OK. Looks like a Shiba Inu. My daughter and her husband have one. Shibas shed a bit too much to my liking, but otherwise they are pretty much perfect dogs.
