I guess, to a point, we are riding part of the growing economy and on the next stop some of the valuation will disappear but still leave our cars at a higher level than, let's say, 5 years ago.

Thanks for sharing, slownrusty.

My pleasure buddy.

Its amazing when I think back to 2008-2009 during the whole Ca$h for Clunkers program, I would scour the junk yards frequently and I saw so many nice 126s that fell victim to that debacle. Back then I even bought a decent 560SEC for $500....amazing. Its about time the 126s came into their own.

Values

About six months ago or so, Sport Car Market magazine advised that the W126 sedans were a "Buy" in their "Buy, Sell, Hold" section.

My dad came over this weekend and we went for a spin around the block in the ol 84 500 SEL.

He asked for it back.

I said NO.

I'm just in time here! I traded a boat that hasn't been used in 6 years for my 85 500SEL.

I think Haggerty is bogus. They might be right, but I think they are more interested in raising their premiums because they helped inflate your car's value.

I was giving them over 400/yr for minimal coverage. Switched to Safeco and got 50 percent more coverage for less than half the price.

All that being said, I HOPE these fine cars are finally getting their due. And I hope that I can find a primo sedan at a rock bottom price before they shoot off to the moon.

I'm not necessarily a big fan of Hagerty, just making everyone aware of a recent article that add yet another data point to the trending-up 126 values.

Yeah, the CFC program took many fine cars of all makes off the road. I remember the local Pull A Part yards were full of Mercedes cars, many of them 126's. There was one that I snagged several parts off of for the SE, I thought someone had made a mistake by parking their car out in the yard yes the car overall looked that good, no dings or scratches (other than what the yard dog put on it setting it in place)

Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints
