W126 Dustless Brake Pads

Hi All,

I'm not sure if this has been asked before ( I couldn't find it via the search function), but can anyone recommend a brand and supplier of dustless front brake pads for my 1987 560 SEC?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards

Dean

So annoying isn't it. Unfortunately the stock MB ones often seem to be the best all round, but they chuff out so much dust.

EBC Greenstuff is popular in the UK, but some people say different things about them.

I went with Predator pads by Black Diamond. They are awesome actually, cold or hot, but as they aged they have started to produce more dust.

I run Akebono F/R and the dust is much less and kind of grey, not very noticeable. However, the stopping power is a bit reduced IMO (~ 0.90-0.95 of the MB pads).

I was down at Pierre Hedary's with my 85 SEC and the front pads were thin. When I asked about pads with less dust he pretty much just said I need to suck it up and deal with the dust. He only wanted to go with stock pads. Okay.

I am cleaning my BBS rims twice a bleeping week! Fun.

The mb pads give better bite but the Akebono virtually eliminate dust,
and the dust they do create isn’t black and noticeable

If you want less dust use akebono

I have Akebono pads on a Volvo XC90. It weighs about as much as an SEL (or SDL) and is considered under-endowed in the brake department. I am very happy with them.

I have used and still use AKEBONO on my BMWs and have been very happy with them. In fact I recently contacted AKEBONO with a groaning issue when cold on the rears for one of my BMWs and their customer service was excellent. I was very impressed.

Brake Pads

I purchased my Akebono brake pads from TireRack as they had the best price.
I have a 420SEL and the rear Akebono pads do not have the slot for the pad wear sensors. So, I had to run MB pads in the back to fit the sensor. I don't know if the 560 set up is any different or not.
