Angry No interior lights or Seat Belt Warning Lights

Hi, I am new to this forum and have just acquired my second classic motor vehicle. This1986 W126 300 SE has an interior front and rear courtesy light and seat belt warning lights built into the front courtesy light roof cluster. My mechanic has checked all fuses and all bulbs and they are fine. None of these lights work when you open any door or use the slider switch. All door switches are fine as the courtesy lights in the bottom of each door activate with no problem. Also, the switch in the front cluster (accommodating the roof courtesy light and seat belt warning lights) for the sun roof is fully operational. Can anyone advise what the problem might be. It is a fully imported Australian delivered vehicle. Thanking you for your time. Regards Dave:

Since multiple lights fail, it's logical to assume that the ground might be bad. Check that voltage passes through correctly on each event with an ohmmeter.
