Interesting take from Magnaflow rep on Cats
I inquired about the replacement for rear muffler and resonator on our cars, as well as cats. I asked about a dual in/dual out vs separate cats on each pipe, and he recommended two separate cats on each side (four total). I asked why, and he said if only running one per side, the "check engine" light may come on and we would need to tune the motor/ECM. Has anyone experienced this? With as many of you who have removed cats altogether, and I don't think anyone has said they have two per side, just wanted to see what those with firsthand experience say.
Also, the resonated internal x mufflers #11385 (14in) and #11378 (11in) were recommended as before. However, they said the longer one can be used in the middle in place of the kidney beans for greater resonance reduction. Has anyone done this? I think Kim's has the longer one on the rear, like what Bob did on the show. Also, The MEC system from Germany looks to have a version with the longer one in the middle as well.
