Mufflers arrived as per KRH recommendations from the Magnaflow/Wheelerdealers design.

Kim why with the rear muffler are we going 2.5 in out, when all the tubing recommended was 2.25 as with the middle resonator...

So next i visited local muffler shops....everyone uses aluminized tubing, too expensive for them to buy mandrel bender and use stainless

i figure i live in cali, im not worried about rust....do i need to do stainless....

I know using a Mandrel leads to some narrowing of the bends, but other option is the shop welds U bends to each section.....that willbe $$
one quote i had is 1800-2000..thats to much for this wallet

ive already have 2100 in my try y components after ceramic and smoothening the flanges

i still need to pay for install then paint work for body down the road

You get the 2.25" pipes flaired to 2.5" where they connect/weld into the rear muffler
I just followed what Magnaflow did in their R&D testing and end result of what they chose and what was installed on Bobs WB coupe in the video

so i am going to return the rear muffler with the 2.5 inch in and out, for the same design with 2.25 ...it is 11385 model number

issue is that the tips i purchased only have a 2 inch inlet so the transition to the 2.5 muffler would be not ideal. ....this is all info per a well reputed muffler shop.

and i think i may give a go with an x pipe out front and see what happens 10790

Congratulations & well done!

From personal experience, I know you will really enjoy the results gained.

The parts image is from the iauto. It site. MouseOver the numbers shows the quantity needed & where. Click on the diagram number, the parts list displays with your selection highlighted.

For example, you'll need a couple of 209 support brackets & ditto to the 251 hardware kits.
[I used aftermarket for the kits, MB for the brackets.]

*As the site is not in English, I use the Chrome browser as it will do an on-the-fly translation.*

Though the pages do NOT show the manifold to heads gaskets & hardware, I do have a parts invoice somewhere around here that has ALL those items needed listed. I will dig around for you after breakfast.

Cheers,

MBL
MBL,

Does this mean we would need two of each part number for 209 and 251, and are they available from usual U.S. MB dealers/parts suppliers? (The site looks to be maybe in Slovene or something similar). When we give them to the exhaust shop, will it be readily apparent to them how the parts are to be used?

Thanks,
Drew

Hey Drew:

The L & R downpipe supports for Tri-Y are exactly the same as the US version [only to the right side] as there are two pipes involved. Try-Y needs another support bracket + hardware, as the transition is four into two, just a bit downstream of brackets... As you see, it's is supported just UPstream of the flanges and before the pipes merge.

We are gettin' there!

M.

US version pictured first time, followed by the Tri-Y install.
