Maybe a unicorn? Euro w126 newly arrive in salvage yard

Or so it appears. After many hours of internet searching, found this:

https://cpprohomeoh.car-part.com/ima...ock%23%20G0780

I contacted the yard yesterday via chat, but they responded that they don't ship. Which is a bummer, because I'm in need of the front euro bumper. Badly. For my pending project on my (still to be delivered) 91 560SEL.

I started another thread (as a long shot) asking if anyone presently resided close by, but thus far, no luck.

So, after much more reading on this forum since yesterday, looks like this car may have a ton of parts that fellow forum members could use, as it appears Euro's in salvage yards in this condition are rare? (Im assuming its a true Euro based on wheels/bumpers). And Im quickly finding out that this particular forum has a trusted community that selflessly shares. So, doing my part. (I think).

My only ask? If anyone does happen to live nearby and checks it out in person, I'd be much obliged to work with you to obtain that front bumper.

Thanks

It looks like the wheels are just covered with plastic wheelcovers/hubcaps. The bumpers are Euro but the headlights are the US version,

Euro steel wheels with hubcaps

Yes, those are the hubcaps Mercedes put on their steel-wheeled W126 models.

They used steel wheels on their base models sold outside of North America. In many markets alloy rims were optional no matter which model you ordered.

At least they're OEM hubcaps, not some cheap and ill-fitting auto store specials.

Regards,
Axel

1990 SEC, Arctic White w/gray interior, M119.960 326 Hp. engine from 1992 500 SL, 722.370 transmission from 500E (reinforced clutches), 2:82 Differential, Euro Headlamps, 1st Gear Start module, One-Touch Window module and Keyless Entry module all from BergWerks, Bilstein HD Shocks on front axle, H&R lowering springs front and rear, AMG 3-piece 17" rims, 8.5" in the front and 10" at the rear.

Those hubcaps are featured in many sales videos and brochures for the SEC.

It would be interesting to see what's UNDER the car, I hereby claim dibs on the skid plate if it has one (gotta find someone close by to go take a look and start pulling stuff, I'd even be willing to pay for the parts pull "service" to that individual)

And I'll add that since it's a Euro it might have the logs or even Tri-Y's being discussed on another thread

Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints

The wheels look to me like 15”. I have euros that came with both 14” and 15”. The classic looking hubcaps for 15” run about $1000 it seems. They are quite rare. I was able to get two from Europe and two from a local friend. I would think a wheel set with caps would be very desirable forte pagoda or w109 crowd, but haven’t had any hits on the set I have for sale.

The 1986 300se that I bought with these 15” steelies does have the long skid plate on it though. ;-)
