Oil Pan Blues got you down??

I'm your Huckleberry. I have nothing to sell only knowledge to share.

After replacing the shocks, springs hydraulic lifters and motor mounts I went down an unexpected highway intersection.. and cracked another oil pan.

I have a good friend who proposed we place a steel plate under the oil pan, the picture is in mid-fabrication... the steel pan ultimately lives with the strength of the frame.
It has a 4/5 inch clearance from the oil pan, and I swear it is an easy to do fix.

As "they" say your mileage might vary!

Peace

Must live in the Hill Country or West Texas/Big Bend.

I have several wiring harnesses (E300/320 and E400/420), ETA's, side/tail/headlights and trim for sale. I can also get requested parts from local JYs. PM me.

3 IN 5 YEARS... 2 IN 18MONTHS... @ ROUGHLY $700 per repair it isn't fun. I would have much rather spent the money on other things on my car!

FYI

Indeed. My sump guard takes regular hard hits, best insurance I ever bought for the car(s).

Good idea!
As my experience advice:
It's flat steel plate. I recommend to make longitudinal stiffening rib to increase stringency.
And make the hole under oil pan cap to simplify engine oil change.

The MB one is good for that, it doesn't get in the way of oil changes at all.
