+ for added peace of mind, take off the valve cover oil cap, shine a light and with a small dental etc mirror check the color of the guides.

The $200.00 or so dollar one was the MB tensioner priced in 2000 not today. There is no such animal today.

The REAL BONAFIDE MB TENSIONER is now the price you see listed. Yes over $450.00 US. Same one Mike showed us.

I put the P/N in the MB of Atlanta search and it doesn't recognize it. Not sure why, as I said, there are used ones out there.

Try oediscountparts.com for your 116 050 18 11 they're a dealer in NC, Quite a few people in the 107 forum are using them, myself included.

Mercedes-Benz Parts - OE Discount Parts

Mercedes had a big price increase last year, I bought a tensioner for my 450
(117 050 10 11) in 2013 for $178... now it's $364.
They also had a big price increase around '06-'07 so conceivably one might have been had for $70 back in 2000

They do change prices quite often according to supply and demand, so some things go up and down. I heard somebody picked the right week once for gen2 European bumper chrome inserts and got them cheap. Maybe the tensioner too. So expensive...

If it's a URO, stop driving the car right now. You've been over ten miles with it and it's now past it's useful life. The sequence is tensioner goes bad, which lets the chain slap on the plastic guides, which breaks a guide, which broken piece then could be carried through the cam gear which changes valve timing, allowing the valves to hit the pistons, which opens up your wallet for a BIG deduction.

If it's a Febi, you should get six months out of it. If it's a real Mercedes tensioner, you're good for years.
URO doesn't even offer this product.

No affiliation with them, just one of the places I am using from time to time.
