Mercedes sunroof paste

Mercedes sells a big tub of sunroof paste, but unfortunately does not sell a smaller amount containers.

Anyone here have a tub which they would sell some of this paste? I have 3 cars that would benefit.

With respect don't fall for the snake oil, smoke & mirrors and marketing crap.

"Sunroof Paste" ... really Mercedes who are you trying to con.

MB don't make oils, lubricants, greases or "pastes" ... they outsource and stick an MB label on it.

Like ATF for example. We pay $40/litre for the MB labelled MB236.15 ATF when it's Fuchs 4134 ATF with a different sticker. So I buy the Fuchs for $9.60/ litre as it's the exact same ATF and even has "complies to MB236.15" printed on the back.

I use and have always used silicone spray ... silicone not WD40/CRC lubricant and spray on Lithium grease. I've had sunroofs in my last three vehicles and never had an issue.

The guys behind the counter at MB dealers will try to bluff you by saying you must use the MB labelled consumables but it's preying on the ill informed and the perceived status of it all ... it's nonsense and outrageous.

It's your car ... but the way MB carry on they make it sound like it's their car and you must use what they say you must use.

I don't have anything to do with the dealers anymore as I detest being treated like a half wit. I do all the servicing myself and do a better job at it.

End of rant.

This recent thread is the best info we've ever had on the sunroof paste. Worth True Glide seems to be approved by MB, so finally we know whats what with the mysterious sunroof grease.

I myself have only ever used the MB stuff bought in little tubs, but recently tried a different one and it seemed just the same. It was sunroof grease from another generic manufacturer, still fairly pricey. It has worked well.

See this thread for the proper info and specs though:

The "MB Sunroof Grease" is actually just repackaged Klüber Polylub Grease. It's a special grease that is stable when used with plastics, and lubricates plastic on plastic areas.

And thanks for the tip.
