I find that in south Texas, many parking garages here in Houston have steep entry and exit ramps. Even at a crawl, i have scraped the oil pan and after getting the skid-plate it has some similar patina. I recently removed that old pan ( I extract oil ) and purchased/installed new one. Its been 6 months and no leaks - perhaps its time to install my skid plate

And here I thought you had installed it long ago

Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints

Speaking of lowered, I am putting some finishing touches on this sweet 89 SEC. This car would benefit the addition of a skid plate. Need to find a local fabricator to build a few of these.

I did, years ago. I removed it for leak checking and a few weeks turned out to be months, as I worked on other things like fuel stack and line replacement.

Guys, as it seems that there is some interest in getting some more of these made, please PM me. In the past, I have had several folks interested, but only one pulled the trigger. If I am going to get some made, it is easier for me to send them to my fabricator all at once. I have received two pms from DownhillA4 and lesguy, so far. Please let me know if you want to get one so that I can get with my fabricator. I don't have the funds to get all of these, so once they are ready, I will need payment before I can get and ship them. I've been around here for a good while, and I can assure you that I will deliver your plates as described. Please read the thread, so you know what to expect for the different types (steel, stainless, with or without additional ribs). The prototype/first production model was gorgeous, and is now driving around the streets of California. I hope that my dilligence will help you guys out!

Feel free to reach out to me via PM and I will get you my phone number if you want to chat about anything regarding these.

Rob

PM sent but this purchase is “to each their own” type of thing. I could go years likely without damage but here in Michigan you just never know what is lurking around the corner. One good pot hole takes out rims and oil pans. I don’t worry so much about taking it slow over some things but the unexpected... While my funds are limited, I have countless hours on working on the engine and I look as this as insurance of a kind. A small dent in the pan no big deal, a hole while you are driving........could be a huge

It also depends on how you look at your car. If its a DD and not lowered, good to go, if its a great shape piece of art, something else. No right or wrong answer, just degree of risk.

Wouldn't be without mine. I snapped up originals for both my cars after hearing of a few sump pan losses on here.
Originals are a bit unobtanium though. Great that Rob can still get them made.
