Possible EHA Fix

Have not tested this in my car, just wanted to share it for those who want to try. Took a leaky EHA, ground away the plastic shell to expose the 4 Torx screws holding the brass halves together. After scraping out the Torx heads of plastic, I was able to tighten each screw 1/4 to 1/3 of a turn (Torx 10). The idea is to stop the leak even though there are still 25 year old gaskets inside.

Let me know if you try this and I'll post later when I test mine.

Thanks,

John

It would be VERY cool if this works, John. Looking forward to hearing from anyone who tries it.

If it works I'll have to dig through the scrap pile for those 2 or 3 I got from the yard that also leaked

I wouldn't worry; I am actually skeptical about it working....even if it does, for how long?

I'm interested to see what the inner workings look like. Maybe there are some replaceable bits. I'll give this a try.

FYI-when I disassembled mine, I ruined the coil trying to get the plastic case off. I mention this because the coil in place prohibits one from separating the brass halves to get to the internals.

Good Luck,

John

Any joy with this? I put on a new used EHA today and it fairly gushed fuel out. I'm wondering what's inside and if it's fixable..

Ian,

I used a Dremel tool to try to grind away the plastic. It was a mess. I was never successful.

I like to think if a company was able to put something together, I should be able to figure a way to take it back apart. No joy on this one.

On my 300SE, I got one from a 91 300E. Figuring newer was better. The O rings were green. Old ones were black. I probably could have simply exchanged O rings. The black ones were flat, the green ones were soft and round.
