Yes, it seems that the list of "NLA" grows longer each month and instead of getting known reliable and good quality parts we may have to take the bite and settle with cheaper quality stuff

That's for sure, between the two cars I've owned and worked on the front ends they were like driving two different cars before and after

Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints

Sandy Claws was good to me this year

I've been on pins and needles the last couple of days waiting . . . . . . . . . it arrived about an hour ago. A brand new, never been installed, genuine skid plate WOO HOO. I am humbled in getting this Holy Grail of Mercedes parts and am Thankful to the individual who offered it to me. I told him I'd keep his identity under my hat so please don't ask who it was, and no, my understanding is this was the only one. If this individual steps up and says "hey, it was me" then that's another thing. I'll soon be able to ride around and not have to cringe when hitting bumps, not that she's hit anything yet, don't want to have a "first"

Working on a nice 84 SEC. Replaced valve cover gaskets, cam oilers and was amazed that the bolts on the valve covers were barely finger tight. Obviously whomever replaced these previously didn't use new crush washers. Grrrr! Replaced hood pad, cap/rotor and wires along with wire holders that fit on top of the valve covers. Being inspired by my hero "slow&rusty" I polished the valve covers and air filter housing. Not bad for a 34 yr old engine compartment. Looking at the photo I need to polish the lid of the power steering pump to add a little more bling. Mike

Well finally, got the new skidder plate installed. The delay was from several things, 1) during the week it arrived Karen was in the hospital with double pneumonia AND the flu, 2) she gave me a touch of it but I did my usual TheraFlu concoction and Mucinex to ward off mine getting any worse, 3) cooler and rainy weather outside made it somewhat cooler in the garage, 4) wrong sized bolts I had on hand, got the correct ones the other day, 5) was taking care of her after she got home. Once I figured out everything I had the plate up, in, and bolted down within an hour. Hard to get pics from up under there but believe me I'll feel much better about not having the engine "out in the open" under there
